A storefront bollard program protects shopfronts, entries and pedestrian edges from vehicle impact across a store fleet, using one frozen specification rather than a different answer at every site. Nextage audits the high risk sites, prices the scope per site so it can be staged to a capital cycle, installs, and reports on completion. Types of bollards we fit
- Inground
- Core drilled and set into the ground. Our standard 90 mm post goes in this way
- Surface mounted
- Base plated and bolted down, where the slab or the services under it rule out drilling
- Removable
- 90 mm posts in a keylock or padlock sleeve, where a route has to open for deliveries or maintenance
- Larger diameters
- 114, 140, 165 and 220 mm, where bigger vehicles move close to the building
- Flexible
- Polyurethane or plastic posts 450 to 900 mm high that bend and rebound. They guide traffic, they do not stop it
- Shock absorbing
- 90 mm and 140 mm steel posts on a surface mount base

FAQ
About storefront protection & bollards
Do you install ram raid or security bollards?
Not as rated security work. Our bollards are vehicle impact protection against an accidental hit, such as a car rolling forward out of a bay. Stopping a deliberate ram raid needs a bollard crash tested to IWA 14, PAS 68 or ASTM F2656, on the footing it was tested with. The ram raid guide sets out the difference.
How much does bollard installation cost?
It is priced per site after an audit, not as a catalogue rate per bollard. The biggest movers are the mounting method, the slab, the services underneath and after hours access. The bollard cost guide sets out each one.
Do you publish the bollard specification?
Yes, for our standard bollard: the 90 mm inground bollard has its own product page with the full specification. On a program, the specification is then frozen, which is what stops site 40 looking different from site 1.
How far apart do the bollards go?
Where a bollard line crosses an accessible path, the clear gap stays at least 1000 mm. That is the minimum unobstructed width AS 1428.1:2021 sets for a continuous accessible path. The spacing for each store is set on the site walk. The bollard product page sets this out.
Do we have to do the whole fleet at once?
No. The audit produces a costed scope per site so the work can be staged against annual capital, starting with the highest risk stores.
Is this crash rated security bollard work?
No. This is vehicle impact protection for retail shopfronts, entries and pedestrian edges. Certified anti ram perimeter security is a different discipline and we would say so rather than take it on.
