What we do

What we look after

Nextage supplies, installs and manages digital advertising screens in Australian shopping centres as the owner's representative. Where a media network sells the advertising on those screens, Nextage also reviews and negotiates the commercial terms for the client. Nextage does not sell media inventory or produce screen content.

01

Supply and install

We choose the screen with centre management, order it, and coordinate the mounting, power, data and commissioning.

02

Manage and maintain

Faults are triaged, spares are held for boards and panels, and induction ready techs attend. Every visit is logged against the screen.

03

Negotiate the media deal

Where a media network sells the advertising, we go through the rate, term and revenue share with you, then negotiate from there.

Screen types

Large format, outdoor and indoor

We specify the screen to the spot it has to work in. These are the four formats we supply most, with the numbers from our own quotes.

Large format LED: Double sided LED hung from the ceiling or fixed to structure over atriums, voids and main entrances, built from cabinets to suit the space.

Comes with the hardware

Remote monitoring

Brightness, temperature, humidity, power supply voltage and the controller cards are checked from the screen itself, and faults are emailed automatically.

Engineered and installed at night

Engineering for the screen and its mounting, night works so the centre keeps trading, and commissioning on site.

Lead time

Typically 12 to 14 weeks from order for new hardware, so a rollover date needs planning well ahead.

Warranty

Quoted hardware carries a 3 year warranty, with spares held for boards and panels.

The media deal

What we read in the agreement

Most centre screens are handed to a media network on a long agreement and then left alone. These are the terms we go through with you before anything is negotiated.

The networks selling centre screen advertising in Australia include oOh!media, Shopper Media, Val Morgan Outdoor (VMO) and QMS. Whichever one holds, or wants, your screens, we sit on your side of the table.

TermWhat we look at
Fee or revenue shareWhether you are paid a fixed fee, a share of revenue, or both, and how that moves over the term.
How the share is worked outWhether it is calculated on gross or net revenue, and what the network deducts before your share is counted.
Term and rolloverThe end date, the notice period, and whether the agreement renews itself if nobody acts.
ReportingWhich revenue and proof of play reports you receive, how often, and whether you can check them.
Screen downtimeWhat happens to payments while a screen is dark, and who has to fix it and by when.
Repairs, power and dataWho pays for each, and who holds the spare parts.
End of termWho owns the hardware, who removes it, and what make good applies to the site.

We do not promise a number. We tell you what the agreement says, where it is out of step with how the screens are actually used, and what we would ask for.

How it runs

From site walk to renewal

The hardware and the agreement are handled by the same people, in the same order, so nothing is negotiated on a screen that does not work.

  1. Walk the site

What is installed, where, what condition it is in, and who holds the licence.

  2. Read the agreement

Every clause above, checked against how the screens actually perform.

  3. Fix the hardware first

A dark or faulty screen weakens any negotiation, so faults get closed out early.

  4. Negotiate

With the media network, for you. Nothing is agreed without your sign off.

  5. Keep it under review

Reports checked against the contract, and the rollover date in the diary well ahead.

Locations

Four zones. Four different jobs.

A screen in the car park and a screen at the retailer are not doing the same work. We choose where each screen goes based on where the shopper actually is.

  1. Proximity e.g. car park

Awareness. First contact, before the shopper is inside. The job is simply to register.

  2. Transition e.g. shopping centre entrance

Disrupt & direct. The shopper is moving with intent. The job is to interrupt it and point somewhere.

  3. Impulse e.g. throughout the shopping centre

Enticement. Browsing and undecided. The job is to make an unplanned option attractive.

  4. Destination e.g. at the retailer

Choice / drive to purchase. At the point of decision. The job is to convert a considered choice.

A good fit

  • Centres with screens already under a media agreement, especially near renewal
  • Owners putting in screens for the first time and choosing a media network
  • Screen fleets that are ageing and starting to fault
  • Retailers with shopfront or in store screens that need looking after

Not us

  • Brands wanting to buy advertising space. That is the media network.
  • Content, creative or campaign production
  • Selling or reselling media inventory

FAQ

About retail media

Do you sell advertising space?

No. Nextage specifies, installs and operates screen hardware as owner's representative, and negotiates the commercial terms with the media network on the client's behalf. Selling the media inventory itself is the media network's business, not ours.

Do you negotiate our media deal for us?

Yes. If a media network already handles the advertising on your screens, we go through the agreement with you, rate, term, revenue share and what happens at rollover, and negotiate from there. We also check the reporting you receive against what the contract says.

Do you produce the content that runs on the screens?

No. Nextage looks after the screen hardware and the media deal around it. What plays on the screen is your media network's job, or your own marketing team's.

Who do we talk to about screens?

Use the enquiry form and choose "Digital screens and retail media assets", or call 1300 075 075. Screen ownership, aftercare and the media deal are the one conversation.

New screens, old screens, or a media deal coming up?

Each conversation starts the same way. Tell us what you have.
